Quantum Fest

International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (2025) Commemorative Event "Quantum Fest”

January, 2025 Date

UNESCO has designated the year 2025 as the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology, as it will be exactly 100 years since the monumental treatise by Heisenberg and his colleagues that founded the field of Quantum Physics. Events celebrating Quantum Physics are being organized around the world, with the national physical societies playing a central role. In Japan, the study of quantum physics has been around for a long time, starting with the founding of elementary particle physics by Hideki Yukawa who predicted π-mesons as a quantum ions, and now we have entered an era in which semiconductors, lasers and other quantum technologies have become a daily reality, and even domestic quantum computers are in operation, allowing us to manipulate the world of quantum mechanics in an artificial manner.

The Japanese Physical Society has been involved in research and technological development with a large number of specialists in the field of quantum physics, and we think it is important for the physics community to take advantage of this International Year of Quantum Science and Technology to let junior high school students and the general public know about the concept of quantum mechanics, its popularity, social importance, and the current state of research and technological development. We believe it is important for the physics community to let them know about the concept of quantum mechanics, its popularity, social importance, and current status of research and technological development. In particular, we need to give young people, who will lead Japan in the future, an opportunity to think about the next 100 years of quantum mechanics. Therefore, as an event for the general public, we will hold a lecture on the quantum mechanics and a concert of classical music inspired by the quantum mechanics, "Quantum Physics Fest", as follows. We hope it will be an entrance to the world of quantum physics for the general public who are not usually familiar with quantum physics.

To help cover the costs of organizing concerts and events, The Physical Society of Japan is launching its first-ever crowdfunding campaign. We plan to offer a variety of rewards, including special seats Quantum Fest, collaborative merchandise, and video streams with commentary.

We will also provide reports and updates on our activities on our crowdfunding and event pages and on the official SNS of the Society ( X @jps_Butsuri ). Please be sure to check this page as well.

We appreciate your understanding and support to make this event a reality.
