The Physical Society of Japanhas established the “Japan Physics Heritage” system, which designates places and artifacts of significant historical importance to the history of physics in Japan as cultural heritage. We are pleased to announce that the following five items have been selected and publicly announced as the first (1st Round, Phase 1) designations under this system.

・ Collection of Materials Related to Torahiko Terada and Associated Historic Sites (Site of Torahiko Terada’s Residence and His Study)
・ Historical Materials Related to Hideki Yukawa
・ Collections held at the Institute for Materials Research, Tohoku University—the birthplace of metallurgical physics and magnetic materials research in Japan—and the Honda Memorial Hall
・ The Electron Microscope Used to Discover Carbon Nanotubes
・ RIKEN Cyclotron No. 3
